Porsche 911 GT3 - Racing for the road
As the successor to the RS variants of the Porsche 911, the name GT3 was first used for the street-legal racing version of the 911 with the 996 series. Porsche's core idea was, unlike with the Porsche Turbo, to adopt as many components as possible from the real Cup cars. To this day, this philosophy is still lived and so the GT models usually have more components in common with the pure racing versions than with a normal Porsche 911 Carrera.
Of course, this is especially noticeable when driving and has led to a huge fan culture for the vehicle worldwide. To this day, the GT models are considered the benchmark for all sports car manufacturers worldwide. The best way to experience why is to rent the GT3.
