Driving in Mallorca follows its own rules. To stay safe, here are the essentials. Fines can be high. If you pay within 20 days, you get a 50 percent discount.
Priority signs are rare. At most intersections you must watch for other vehicles and give way.
Minor parking bumps are common. Intersections are often blocked despite the ban. It is not allowed, but enforcement can vary.
Watch for Acire zones. Only residents may park there and rental drivers risk fines.
Parking line colors:
White: free parking
Blue: paid parking, free during siesta and at night
Yellow: disabled drivers and delivery vehicles only
Speed limits are strict. In towns 50 km h, on main roads 100 km h and on highways 120 km h. On rural roads the limit depends on shoulder width. Under 1.5 meters 90 km h, above 100 km h.
The alcohol limit is 0.5.
