Where to drive a sports car around Hamburg
Autobahn: the A7 north toward Flensburg and the A1 toward Bremen have long stretches without a speed limit - and the A7 is flat, straight and empty on a weekday morning.
Baltic coast: Travemünde and the beaches of the Lübeck Bay are an hour away, the Holstein lake district on the way; further up, Fehmarn and the bridge to the island in two.
North Sea and Sylt: the North Sea coast at Sankt Peter-Ording is two hours, Sylt three and a half with the car train from Niebüll - drive the sports car onto the train and off again on the island.

Driver's license: a US or Canadian driver's license is all you need, no international driving permit required. Bring your passport.
Minimum age: 25 for most of our sports cars, higher for a few models; the booking process shows the exact requirement for each car.
Deposit: blocked on a credit card in the renter's name, never charged. The amount is shown during booking.
Cancellation: free of charge up to one week before pickup.
Return: our Hamburg station has a 24/7 key drop box, so a late return after a day at the coast is no problem - or hand the key to a rental agent and tell us how it went.

Yes, on weekdays. On weekends the minimum rental is two days. Most customers tell us one day is not enough anyway - and the daily rate drops the longer you keep the car.
Yes. A valid US or Canadian driver's license is all you need, no international driving permit required. Bring your passport and a credit card in the renter's name for the deposit - the deposit is only blocked on the card, never charged. Drivers must be 25 or older for most sports cars, higher for a few models.
On the unrestricted stretches, yes - roughly two thirds of the German autobahn network has no limit, the rest has posted limits, and 130 km/h (81 mph) is the recommended speed. Around Hamburg the A7 north and the A1 toward Bremen have long unrestricted sections. Keep right except to pass, watch the mirrors, and enjoy it - the cars are built for this.
Yes, to Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, France, Monaco, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Portugal and mainland Spain - select the cross-border option during booking and the car is covered for your route. Denmark is two hours north - Copenhagen makes a great long weekend - and the Netherlands four hours west.
