Where to drive a sports car around Stuttgart
Autobahn: the A8 toward Munich and the A81 toward Heilbronn have unrestricted stretches minutes from the city - and the A8 past Ulm is where the 911 shows what it can do.
Black Forest: the Schwarzwaldhochstraße, the B500 from Baden-Baden over the ridge to Freudenstadt, is 90 minutes away and the best 40 miles of road in southern Germany - corners, views, no traffic on a weekday morning.
Swabian Alb: the climbs up onto the Alb south of Stuttgart - Albaufstiege - are half an hour away, steep and twisty, and the villages on top serve the best Maultaschen.
City: the Porsche Museum in Zuffenhausen and the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Untertürkheim, 15 minutes each, then Lake Constance in two hours or Munich in two and a half for a one-way rental, see our one-way rental page.

Driver's license: a US or Canadian driver's license is all you need, no international driving permit required. Bring your passport.
Minimum age: 25 for most of our sports cars, higher for a few models; the booking process shows the exact requirement for each car.
Deposit: blocked on a credit card in the renter's name, never charged. The amount is shown during booking.
Cancellation: free of charge up to one week before pickup.
Return: our Stuttgart station has a 24/7 key drop box, so a late return after a day in the Black Forest is no problem - or hand the key to a rental agent and tell us how it went.

Yes, on weekdays. On weekends the minimum rental is two days. Most customers tell us one day is not enough anyway - and the daily rate drops the longer you keep the car.
Yes. A valid US or Canadian driver's license is all you need, no international driving permit required. Bring your passport and a credit card in the renter's name for the deposit - the deposit is only blocked on the card, never charged. Drivers must be 25 or older for most sports cars, higher for a few models.
On the unrestricted stretches, yes - roughly two thirds of the German autobahn network has no limit, the rest has posted limits, and 130 km/h (81 mph) is the recommended speed. Around Stuttgart the A8 toward Munich and the A81 toward Heilbronn have long unrestricted sections. Keep right except to pass, watch the mirrors, and enjoy it - the cars are built for this.
