I hired an M3 Touring through this outfit and it was a great experience. The guy who handed over the car was really accommodating and helpful. The car was phenomenal and everything in the process was super simple and straight forward. Definitely recommend!

The best prices for cars in Germany. Good communication with customers, the deposit was returned the next day. I recommend👍

Fantastic service that I wish we had in Australia. Will definitely use again when in Germany. Great selection of cars at reasonable prices with great professional service. Had a Cayman GTS this time around for a few days and look forward to trying some of the other fleet vehicles next time!

Such an awesome experience! Rented a BMW M3 and the ride was such an amazing experience. Pick up was in Munich and drop off was in Salzburg and each time was ABSOLUTELY seamless. Will definitely rent again when I'm in Germany!

Great company. Rented a GT4 in Stuttgart, they took the time to walk around the car to document any damages, asked for me to take pictures and videos. Great process, Car was clean and in excellent shape. Super service, could not be happier. I will have to do a trip every year from now on.

New i3 or old i3? Same name, different car

Search for "BMW i3" and you get two different cars: the carbon-fiber city car built from 2013 to 2022, and the new Neue Klasse sedan. We know both. We ran the old i3 as the i3s in our fleet and car-sharing program; the new one is now with us in Munich as the i3 50 xDrive.

BMW i3 (2013-2022)

  • Body: subcompact hatchback, 158 in (4.01 m), rear-hinged coach doors
  • Construction: carbon-fiber passenger cell on an aluminum chassis
  • Drive: rear-wheel drive, 170 hp, 181 hp as the i3s
  • Battery and range: 42.2 kWh in its final version, 153 miles EPA
  • Charging: up to 50 kW DC
  • At CarVia: formerly in our fleet and car-sharing as the i3s

BMW i3 (2026 on)

  • Body: sedan, 187 in (4.76 m)
  • Construction: Neue Klasse architecture with an 800-volt system
  • Drive: xDrive all-wheel drive, two motors, 463 hp (469 PS), 476 lb-ft, 0-62 mph in 4.7 s
  • Battery and range: 108 kWh cylindrical cells, up to 563 miles WLTP
  • Charging: up to 400 kW DC, about 260 miles in 10 minutes
  • At CarVia: now as the i3 50 xDrive, guaranteed model

Tech: what makes the new BMW i3 50 xDrive

  1. Neue Klasse and 6th-generation eDrive
The platform was developed for electric cars only. The 800-volt system and new cylindrical cells bring more energy density, less weight and noticeably better efficiency than BMW's previous EV technology.
  2. Charging at up to 400 kW
Under ideal conditions, ten minutes at the charger adds about 260 miles. The i3 also charges on the common 400-volt stations, and on AC the Professional onboard charger takes up to 22 kW, so a wallbox at the hotel or at home fills it noticeably faster than the usual 11 kW.
  3. 463 hp, all-wheel drive and the "Heart of Joy"
Two electric motors deliver 345 kW (463 hp, 469 PS) and 476 lb-ft of torque; 0-62 mph takes 4.7 seconds and top speed is 124 mph. The central "Heart of Joy" controller manages drive, braking and recuperation in real time and sends most of the braking energy back into the battery.
  4. Range for long days
The 108 kWh battery is rated at up to 563 miles WLTP (EPA figures are not out yet). In practice that means Munich to Hamburg or a full Alpine loop without planning your day around chargers.
  5. Panoramic iDrive
BMW Panoramic Vision shows driving data across the full width of the windshield, backed by a 3D head-up display and a free-cut central display. You control it by touch, voice (BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant) or the multifunction steering wheel.
  6. Bidirectional charging
The i3 can also feed power out: vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid are built in, and with the matching BMW wallbox the car becomes a battery for the house.

Drive the new i3 before it's in your driveway

A dealer test drive lasts an hour. With us you drive the i3 for a weekend or a week: city traffic, the unrestricted Autobahn, a supermarket charger, family and luggage on board. Germany is where the i3 is built, and it's the one place you can find out what 124 mph feels like in it, legally. Afterwards you know whether the range holds up in real life and whether the Panoramic Vision display is for you. For longer periods the i3 is also available as a BMW long-term rental.

Pickup at BMW Welt or delivery to Munich Airport (MUC)

Our i3 50 xDrive is based in Munich: pick it up at Motorworld Munich or at BMW Welt, within sight of the plant where the i3 is built. On request we bring the car to your hotel or to Munich Airport (MUC), handover in person.

The model is guaranteed, the deposit is only a hold on your credit card, and you can cancel free of charge up to one week before pickup. More models from the brand under BMW rental in Munich, the whole electric fleet under electric car rental in Germany.

Frequently asked questions about the BMW i3

Less than its reputation suggests: a BMW i3 50 xDrive for one week came to around €124 per day when we checked on October 26, 2026 (November 28 - December 5, 2026, pickup in Munich), with 1,650 free kilometers (about 1,030 miles) included. That is the all-in price, everything else is optional. The booking tool at the top shows your price for your dates in seconds.

€1,500. It is a hold on your credit card, not a charge, and it is released after you return the car.

No. The carbon-fiber i3 was built from 2013 to 2022, a 158-inch city car with 170 or 181 hp. The new i3 from 2026 is a 187-inch Neue Klasse sedan with 463 hp and all-wheel drive. The two share nothing but the name. We ran the old i3s ourselves; what you rent from us today is the new i3 50 xDrive.

BMW rates it at up to 563 miles (906 km) WLTP from the 108 kWh battery; EPA figures are not out yet. At Autobahn speeds the real-world number drops, as it does in any EV. The upside: the i3 charges at up to 400 kW, about 260 miles in ten minutes under ideal conditions.

Yes. Top speed is 124 mph (200 km/h), and on the sections without a speed limit you may use it. Keep right except to pass, and remember that range at that pace is a different number than the WLTP figure.

Minimum age is 25 and you must have held your license for at least 3 years. A US or Canadian driver's license is accepted as is, no international driving permit needed. Bring your passport, and a credit card in the renter's name for the deposit hold.

The i3 is based in Munich, with pickup at Motorworld or BMW Welt. Delivery to your hotel or to Munich Airport (MUC) can be added when you book. For other cities, send us a short request and we'll check the transfer.

Rental Requirements: i3

Are you wondering what requirements you need to meet to rent a BMW i3?

Of course, you'll need a valid driver's license and an identification document (ID card/passport). We accept driver's licenses from all over the world. However, if your license does not use the Latin alphabet or lacks an English translation, you will also need to provide an international driver's license in addition to your original document. The driver's license must have been in your possession for at least year. Additionally, the renter (and any additional drivers) must meet the minimum age requirement of 25 years.
